What is a Sound Bath?
Hosted by Surya Leigh Mellor, RP, MFA, MPS
Registered Psychotherapist · Artist · Sound Practitioner
Sound baths are small-group sound experiences held in our light-filled studio surrounded by cedar forest, located north of Durham Ontario at Whole Life Studio.
A Sound Bath is an immersive listening experience in which participants rest comfortably while a changing landscape of sound unfolds around them. Singing bowls, gong, percussion, strings, voice and other acoustic instruments are woven together with periods of silence.
The word bath describes the experience of being immersed in sound and vibration. Through Mindful Sound, attention is brought to listening, breath, physical sensation and the ways sound is experienced through the body.
This creates space for presence, somatic awareness and deep listening. There is no particular experience to achieve—the practice is simply to notice what emerges through sound, silence and attentive awareness.
October 16th • Sound Bath • In Gratitude
As autumn deepens, this sound bath offers a space to slow down and reflect on gratitude — for what sustains us, what connects us, and what is present in our lives. Through sound, stillness and gentle awareness, we’ll settle into an evening of rest, reflection and appreciation.
Private & Group Sound Baths
Private Sound Baths are also available for small groups, organizations and community gatherings.
Whole Life Studio Sound Baths are community gatherings and are separate from psychotherapy services.
Participation does not constitute psychotherapy or establish a therapist-client relationship.
